Nestled amid rolling lawns, fragrant roses, and pristine bushland, lies the old Bridgeleigh Reception Centre, a cherished local landmark, situated on 10 acres. For 35 years, this picturesque venue served as a bustling reception centre, playing host to a variety of functions from intimate weddings to large, corporate events.

Originally envisioned and constructed by Mike Deane and his family, Bridgeleigh was purpose-built to fulfill the community’s needs, and it quickly became a sought-after destination for gatherings of all kinds.

To the Wanneroo Business Association (WBA), Bridgeleigh held a special significance as the home and heart of the local business community for many years. Serving as the backdrop for numerous WBA events, including monthly business breakfasts where local entrepreneurs could connect, learn, and engage with industry leaders, it also provided a perfect location for WBA-led election debates, fundraisers, and auctions.

Mike fondly recalls, “WBA members were known to bid furiously on Bridgeleigh’s moonlit functions, which were held under the outdoor gazebo, along with a full degustation experience. A lot of money was raised for local charities with these dinners, and we were glad to be of help.”

With over half a million people through the doors and 7.000 weddings held over three decades, it was finally time to close the doors of Bridgeleigh in 2020, marking the end of an era.

Today, the grounds and centre continue to serve as a hub for community outreach under the stewardship of a Pentecostal church.

Thankfully, Bridgeleigh has been spared from the clutches of developers, preserving its history and cherished memories for generations to come.

Wanneroo Business Association would like to thank Mike and wife, Anne, for their longstanding dedication and support of our local business community. We are celebrating our 25th anniversary this year and are looking forward to sharing more memories of our beginnings. All are welcome to join us at any event during August 2024, each one dedicated to our birthday.
