BUSINESS people flocked to attend a Wanneroo Business Association Business Breakfast at The Marina Mindarie this month, to hear the home-grown success story of Dale Alcock, Managing Director, ABN Group.
About 120 businesses attended the Perth business event on Friday 13, taking the opportunity to network and promote their businesses over a delicious plated breakfast.
Mr Alcock shared his story, taking attendees on his journey of how he progressed from apprentice bricklayer to Australia’s leading home builder. He shared that under his leadership as Managing Director, the ABN Group now operates in Western Australia and Victoria and has built almost 75,000 homes across the two states, with between 4,000-4,500 this year alone.
Attendees were able to hear Mr Alcock’s tips on being successful in business which ranged from having the correct attitude and culture, being present in every situation and taking opportunities as they arise. Mr Alcock also referenced the University of Life, which he says we will never graduate from, adding that ‘every day is a learning day.’
WBA President Nigel Santa Maria commented ‘the support from local businesses for this business event was phenomenal.’
‘Business Breakfast events are just one of many business events on offer through the Wanneroo Business Association, and our recent move to rebrand them has been very well received. We will continue to seek high profile, motivational speakers for our business community to hear from to provide you with a different perspective on helping your business grow.’
During the event Mr Santa Maria also announced that Wanneroo Business Association has managed to fundraise over $2100 for Cahoots, as members sponsored him to complete a 52 storey abseil as part of the Central Park Plunge event, which also took place this month.
The event was sponsored by Provident Lending & Business Solutions and EZ Business Loans and was rescheduled from March due to COVID19.
Martin Keiley, Evolve Consultancy: ‘I attended the Business Breakfast with guest speaker Dale Alcock this morning. It was inspiring to hear about his journey as a kid and brickie from the Wheatbelt to leading one of the largest, most recognizable home builders in WA, as well being board member for Freo Dockers! Thanks for sharing your story Dale. My take away was the connection between performance in business and performance in sport, you need to be on your A game in both! It was great to network with fellow WBA members and like minded Perth business owners.’
Niamh Campbell, First Class Accounts: ‘Great event put on by the Wanneroo Business Association at the The Marina Mindarie. Breaky was lovely, met some great people and Dale had some great things to say. Thanks to Lauren Bell and everyone at the WBA.’
Dawn Squires, Autoscreens Automotive Glass: ‘Thank you for this morning, it was a well run event that we all thoroughly enjoyed. Dale was a great speaker and we took away some key points to move our own business forward. For us it wasn’t so much a networking event but rather the chance to listen to an expert in the world of business.’
Lorraine Leaning, NAB Perth North Business Banking Centre: ‘Thanks very much for organising the WBA breakfast this morning. Was great hearing from Dale Alcock…interesting always to hear from people with such vast experience in business.’
