WHS Made Simple: Building Safety Confidence in Your Small Business
Understanding your Work Health and Safety duties as a small business owner isn’t just a legal requirement, it’s a foundation for protecting your people, your reputation, and the long-term resilience of your business. This introductory workshop is designed for small business owners and managers who want clarity, confidence, and practical knowledge to meet their WHS obligations without unnecessary complexity.
In this session, we’ll break down Australia’s WHS laws in a way that makes sense for smaller operations. You’ll learn what responsibilities business owners and workers have, and how key concepts like “reasonably practicable” apply in everyday decision-making. We’ll also explore the basics of compliance and risk management, including how to identify hazards, assess workplace risks, and implement simple, effective controls suited to your business.
This is a hands-on, scenario-based workshop, not a legal lecture. Through real-world examples and discussion, we’ll explore common safety challenges small businesses face, from managing contractors to addressing everyday workplace risks. Participants are encouraged to bring their own questions or examples so practical solutions can be explored together.
Whether you’re new to WHS or looking to strengthen your foundations, this workshop will help you build a safer, more compliant, and more confident business.
This is a free event for businesses within the City of Wanneroo.
