Small Business Day is a statewide movement to raise awareness about small business in Western Australia. It’s about celebrating our passionate small businesses, who are at the heart of what makes our local communities great. We know, without small business, a community doesn’t thrive and without small business, our economy would not survive. Small businesses are a huge part of our life and this event celebrated and supported them!

Held at the new Allied Health Precinct in Wanneroo, attendees included City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts JP and newly elected Cr Jordan Wright (pictured above).  The theme for WA Small Business Day 2021 was ‘make a pledge’, therefore attendees were encouraged to write down how they will support a local small business in the run up to Christmas, adding it to our small business pledge wall.  How can you join the small business pledge movement to support local businesses in the run up to Christmas?

The WA Small Business Day event included coworking opportunities and facility tours of the Allied Health Precinct and showcased a range of business information from organisations and business stakeholders including Small Business Development Corporation, CyberCheck.Me, WA AustCyber Innovation Hub, nbn, Industry Training Hub Wanneroo and various ECU School representatives. Small business owners in attendance also had the opportunity to participate in two well attended free workshops, to understand more about how to run Facebook Ads and the basics of Instagram, both workshops delivered by Sarah Thomson, Owner and Founder: Online Social Butterfly (pictured below)

A closing sundowner to celebrate the end of the WA Small Business Day event was supported heavily with a huge attendance.  A mobile bar and popular gelato bike was offered by local Wangara business Cosmic Cocktails and Catering, and the paella from The Spanish Casa was a huge hit, served at twilight in City of Wanneroo’s Jacaranda Court.

Jacqui Dunn, owner of English Rose Bridal attended, saying: ‘What a great day, with very informative workshops and advice on hand. It was great to network at the sundowner and meet other small business owners. Thanks everyone for all your effort to create a great event.’

A special shout out and thank you to Sarah Thomson at Online Social Butterfly for sharing her Instagram and Facebook Ads wisdom in the 2 workshops, and providing the giggles too, to the team at the Allied Health Precinct for hosting and to Cosmic Cocktails & Events and The Spanish Casa for looking after everyone attending the sundowner.
