More than 130 people attended Wanneroo Business Association’s (WBA) largest Annual General Meeting to date on Weds 16 Sept at The Marina Mindarie. State Government and City of Wanneroo representatives, as well as members, were present to hear the latest report on the organisation’s performance. Attendees were treated with a gourmet grazing table, drinks and canapes and networked into the evening.
President Dinesh Aggarwal celebrated 10 years’ service to the Wanneroo Business Association Committee of Management as he stepped down to hand over the role to Nigel Santa Maria, after he was re-elected to the Committee following a vote from members. In his departing message, Dinesh said that he was proud to hand over a modern and financially self-sustainable business association to the new Committee of Management and had no doubt that there is a bright future ahead for the WBA. He explained that attendance at events had risen drastically since the easing of COVID19 restrictions, showing a real need for the Wanneroo Business Association and for local businesses to connect. Dinesh also informed the membership base that a decision had been made to postpone the Business Expo which normally falls in September to March 2021, and similarly, due to COVID19, the Business Awards will return in November 2021.
Following a ballot vote election, and 8 nominations for 6 positions, the 2020/2021 Wanneroo Business Association Committee of Management is as follows:

Nigel Santa Maria presented his final Financial Report in the role of Treasurer before he steps into the role of President, reporting that the organisation was slightly ahead of budget due to the cash boost received as part of the COVID19 Government stimulus. He formally thanked Dinesh Aggarwal for his time served on the Committee, as well as Chantell Rosenthal who stepped down from the role of Vice President before embarking on maternity leave, by presenting farewell and thank you gifts. Nigel commented that ‘it’s a wonderful privilege to be handed the reigns as President to such a fantastic business association, and I am really excited to build on the momentum we currently have, to capitalise on the opportunities we see in front of us. We are now in a good position to crack on and continue delivering against this momentum we have, and I look forward to serving the WBA and the community for another two years.’
General Manager Lauren Bell, MC for the event, also reported that the business association currently sits at 429 members, announced the annual fundraiser recipient as Cahoots, with the return of the popular WBA Fundraising Gnomes and welcomed sponsor representatives City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts JP and Ertech Holdings’ Executive Chairman Gavin Miller to address attendees. Michael Goh Photography were also thanked for their continued support of the organisation.
