Board Member

My name is Melissa (or Mel), and I am the brains behind Little Biz! I am a WordPress Web Designer & Small Business Mentor, and I love to share my knowledge and experience to encourage those dreaming of starting a small business to step out in faith and do it, as well as helping small businesses to grow. I also love the process of creating WordPress websites that showcase the personality of my clients & their brand.

I have had a varied working career, starting in the insurance industry before I somehow fell into the marketing department of a construction & engineering company through a temp agency. I moved into the small business space during the GFC and then my husband and I were seconded into the family business in 2010. I started my first micro business in 2012 from scratch as a side-hustle alongside my part time job in the family business and with a 1 year old. 13 years later, and with another couple of little businesses under my belt, I left my day job early 2022 to focus on building Little Biz and helping hubby with his trade-based business. 

I’ve been a member of the WBA since 2022 and have found the WBA to be a group of genuine and friendly people, and it has been a pleasure to grow a great network of business friends through the WBA. It is an honor to be selected to be part of the WBA board, and I look forward to contributing my knowledge, skills and enthusiasm to further support this community and its members.

OTHER INFORMATION

I am one of the expert consultants for the ASBAS Digital Solutions program with Business Foundations, consulting as a WordPress expert and basic SEO guidance, and I also present workshops for the Digital Solutions Program.

When I’m not dreaming up new product and business ideas, I enjoy travelling, spending time with my family on our hobby farm, reading, completing jigsaw puzzles, and baking.
